About

Cake contemporary arts was founded by Caroline McNulty, a practising visual artist, who was keen to establish a space and provide opportunities for the presentation and support of contemporary visual arts practice in Co. Kildare. Cake has evolved to become a not-for-profit artist-led initiative based in the Curragh Camp, a Defence Force base and military college located in The Curragh, County Kildare.

With invaluable support from the Defence Force and the local community, Cake has grown both in scale and number, providing Kildare with a new exhibition, workshop and project space.

Cake is dedicated to providing a platform and open forum for contemporary artists. It supports professional artists practicing in the area of Visual Arts, Film, Live Art, New Media Art and Literature through a variety of initiatives, including a year round exhibition programme, peer critique sessions and studio residencies.

At the heart of Cake’s objective, is a desire to support the development of artistic practice at the highest level, promoting active engagement and participation in the arts by artists and communities alike.
